Saving Energy and Money too.

Purchase energy smart products from Weather Shield today and qualify for a credit of up to $1500 on your next federal tax return.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 signed on February 17th by President Obama provides a tax credit for qualifying energy-efficient home improvements including windows and doors through 2010. Homeowners can receive a tax credit equal to 30% of their investment, up to $1,500.

In order to receive the tax credit, the window or door must achieve a .30 or lower U-factor and .30 or lower Solar Heat Gain Coefficient. This is more stringent than the current ENERGY STAR® specifications. Weather Shield is proud to offer an unequaled breadth of products that qualify for the tax credit.

Utilizing a number of energy smart solutions, such as Zo-e-shield®, the World's Best Energy Glass? is an important differentiation for Weather Shield in meeting the strict criteria of the Act. In fact, with Zo-e-shield glazing options, the vast majority of our product styles meet or exceed the specified requirements (click in "Qualifying Products" on the right for a full listing). Few competitive brands can offer such flexibility!

How to Take Advantage of the Energy Tax Credit

  • Purchase qualifying Weather Shield windows or doors that have a U-Factor and SHGC of 0.30 or lower.
  • The credit is equal to 30% of the investment with the aggregate amount not to exceed $1,500 for during the two taxable years.
  • Purchase and installation of qualifying products must occur between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
  • The purchase of the qualified windows must be made during the taxable year for which the credit is being claimed.
  • The credit is allowed only for the price of the qualifying windows and doors. Installation and sales tax are excluded.
  • Claim the corresponding tax credit for your purchase on you Federal taxes for either the 2009 and/or the 2010 tax year.
  • Retain your sales receipt and the NFRC/ENERGY STAR® label for each window and door unit you purchase and keep for tax filing purposes.
  • The credit is only available on home improvements (not new construction).

For complete details on the tax credit, please refer to IRS.gov, ENERGY STAR® or to the recovery.gov web sites.
